During autumn 2016 Akelius Foundation entered into an agreement with Doctors Without Borders pledging to double the gifts and contributions that Doctors Without Borders received in Sweden during December 2016.
In 2019 the Foundation again pledged to double gifts and donations received, this time for November and December.
The Swedish newspaper Dagens Industri wrote several articles about the campaign,
inspiring both companies and private persons to make donations.
When the 2019 campaign came to an end,
Doctors Without Borders had received SEK 161 million.
In a typical December they would receive SEK 80 million.
The Foundation doubled this amount to SEK 322 million, making the collection campaign a Swedish record.
The campaign was a collaboration between the Foundation and the aid organizations UNICEF, SOS Children's Villages, Doctors Without Borders and UNHCR.
